Citizens for a Better Government (“CBG,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates a recurring SMS/MMS text messaging program, Citizens for a Better Government Alerts (the “Program”). Messages sent through the Program may include alerts, donation requests, event notices, volunteer opportunities, advocacy calls to action, updates, and other important information. Messages may be sent using an automatic telephone dialing system.
These Terms and Conditions (the “Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and CBG governing your participation in the Program. By opting in, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
You join the Program by submitting your mobile phone number and checking the opt-in box on our signup form, by texting a keyword to one of our numbers, or by otherwise providing your express written consent to receive text messages from CBG.
Consent is not a condition of purchase or of any donation, and it is not required to receive information from CBG through other channels. You represent that you are the account holder of, or are authorized to provide consent for, the mobile number you submit, and that you are at least 16 years of age.
If your mobile number changes or is reassigned, you agree to notify us so that we stop messaging that number.
Message frequency varies. You may receive messages periodically, and frequency may increase around elections, legislative deadlines, events, or urgent advocacy moments.
Message and data rates may apply. You are responsible for any charges your mobile carrier assesses for sending or receiving text messages, including any data charges for MMS content. Contact your wireless provider for details about your plan.
You may cancel at any time by replying STOP to any message from the Program. You will receive a single message confirming your request, after which you will no longer receive Program messages. You may also email info@citizensforabettergovernment.com to be removed. If you opt out and later want to rejoin, you may sign up again at any time.

The Program is available on most major U.S. wireless carriers, including AT&T, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, Sprint, U.S. Cellular, Boost Mobile, MetroPCS, Cricket, Virgin Mobile, and others. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Not all handsets or carriers support all message types, and carrier participation may change without notice.
We do not guarantee that messages will be delivered, or delivered on time. Delivery depends on factors outside our control, including carrier networks, device settings, and service availability. We may modify, suspend, or terminate the Program, in whole or in part, at any time and without notice.
Information you provide when joining the Program is handled as described in our Privacy Policy. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared, sold, or rented to any third parties for marketing purposes. We share your mobile number only with the service providers who help us operate the Program, and only for that purpose.
The Program is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, CBG and its officers, employees, volunteers, vendors, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your participation in the Program, including undelivered, delayed, or misdirected messages.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page, and the date of the most recent revision appears at the top. Your continued participation in the Program after we post changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
